Augacephalus junodi

Augacephalus junodi, Golden Baboon Tarantula from South Africa. A skittish and moderately aggressive species that prefers to run and hide but won't be  afraid to stand and fight. Not one I would choose to pick up.

This tarantula is a burrower and spends much of its time underground. I have had her for about eight months or so and this winter I have placed her next to another tank where there is a heat mat at the back. As a result she has built up her burrow to reach the heat mat using the coir substrate and web. It is an intricate silk lined construct.

Quite impressive.

Grammostola rosea 'Concepcion'

Here is Chloe, my only wild caught tarantula - I didn't realise it at the time I bought her. She has a real problem with hemisphere shift and sh's not happy that its colder now than she would expect.
Pretty thing isn't she?
